Surf Spot Details

Carcans Plage in Acquitaine is an exposed beach break that has dependable surf and can work at any time of the year. It has a nice small wave beachbreak that works like the rest of the waves on this stretch of coast. Works best in offshore winds from the east. Waves just as likely from local windswells as from distant groundswells and the best swell direction is from the west. The beach break offers both left and right hand waves. The quality of the surf isn't affected by the tide. Even when there are waves, it's not likley to be crowded. Although it can get busy in the summer and autumn with tourists... a bit of a walk will get you to some emptyish waves.

I spent only four days at Carcans Plage
but nevertheless enjoyed it very much. Although I rode a board I had never used before and it seemed a bit long and narrow for me (semi gun), I had fun on the waves:-)!
